A day in the life of an Administrator for a domestic abuse charity

by Gavin and Lauren

The Admin team act as a supporting role for all the other teams in SATEDA as well as often acting as the first point of contact for clients, volunteers and professional queries coming in via our various contact methods.

Although independently part of two separate teams, the two Administrators assist with many day-to-day tasks for the whole organisation ongoing: including organising booked rooms for colleagues, providing needed supplies for the office, staff onboarding and liaising with external agencies and partners. As an extremely flexible and varied role, no two days or weeks are ever the same which means you never know what the day will bring!

Here is a (small!) sample of what they both generally experience.

Lauren

Lauren works under the Support Team and is often the first person a new client will speak to. She manages the majority of referrals either client-led or by professionals and both allocates to the wider Support teams and provides front-line support herself. She is frequently in talks with partner organisations and professionals within our industry, often in the aim to establish or build upon better ways of working and potential joint ventures.

Gavin

Gavin works under the Communities team and is usually the first port of call for internal technical support. He works closely with the Volunteer team assisting with the maintenance of volunteer stored data and onboarding process, as well managing the Counselling waiting list and referral processes. Along with providing administration support for the charity’s mail system, he monitors the website chat functionality and any hardware allocations.

The Admin team work well together and in their respective teams and like to think they make everyone else’s job run that little bit smoother!
