Launching our drop ins at The SATEDA Hub

Drop ins are now available at The SATEDA Hub at Heather House in Sittingbourne on Wednesday 9am-12pm and Friday 11am-2pm. You can find us at Heather House, Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne, ME10 4NN.

Our greatest achievement over the past year has been the opening of our new drop in hub, which we officially launched in December and opened in January 2025.

We worked hard to secure this space, knowing we wanted a dedicated hub for all our services – a place where women could feel safe and welcomed while seeking advice about their abusive relationships.

Heather House was once an abandoned building, left empty following the COVID-19 pandemic, with rooms which had become tired and run-down. Within a few months, we transformed our part of the building into a vibrant and supportive space, now known as The SATEDA Hub.

Services at The SATEDA Hub include:

  • The Garnons-Williams Room – a wellbeing room for one to one support, named after our newly retired Chair of Trustees. Here, women can meet with one of our support workers and receive on advice on how to safely leave their relationship. They will also have access to a member of our Support2Court team, who can assist with family court proceedings.
  • Sharewear dressing room (plus two storage rooms) – where women can browse seasonal, free clothing and accessories.
  • An office for staff – a dedicated working space for our team.
  • Support for young people – our youth team can arrange times out-of-school appointments for our young clients.
  • Virtual Support2Court webcam – set up to allow women to attend virtual court hearings while being supported in-person by their support worker who can take notes for them and assist them with the process.

All these services are available at our drop in sessions every Wednesday 9am-12pm and Friday 11am-2pm.

GW Room

We are proud of how we have transformed this space and grateful for the dedication of our staff and volunteers in making it a supportive environment for women in need. The feedback from our launch event has been overwhelmingly positive. We used the occasion to give attendees a tour and officially announce our opening.

It was a privilege to host this opening jointly with Age UK Kent Rivers, who also launched their additional services at Heather House. We were honoured to share this day with council members, charity organisations, partners and colleagues. The High Sheriff of Kent cut the ribbon, and we were grateful to hear speeches from both her and the Mayor of Swale.

We’d really appreciate your help in spreading the word about our new drop in. Could you share this with your networks or add to your website or newsletter? Follow this link to download our poster, or email comms@sateda.org to request physical copies. 💜
