Leave a gift in your will
Your legacy gift will transform lives
Domestic abuse happens behind closed doors. But so do the solutions. SATEDA works tirelessly across Kent to support women and children whose lives have been impacted by abuse. This year, we’ve helped almost 2000 individuals, and as a registered charity we need to raise every single penny to make this happen.
You can help us continue our life-changing, and often life-saving work. 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. By leaving a gift in your Will, you will invest in a world in which even more women are supported to find freedom from domestic abuse.
Above all, your gift will build brighter futures for women and children for years to come.
This is why your legacy gift is so important.
If you are considering supporting SATEDA in your Will, please read the information below or contact comms@sateda.org if you have any questions which aren’t answered here.
SATEDA’s promise:
• We recognise that family and loved ones come first

• We will be open and honest about our charity and the process of donating
• If you do choose to leave a gift, we will use it in the most cost-effective way to help women and children affected by domestic abuse
• We will never share your personal information

“SATEDA have helped me realise that I’m not to blame for how I’ve been treated. It’s helped me look at things differently, and I now feel that I’m ready to heal.” -SATEDA client
Leaving a gift in your Will or updating your existing Will is easier than you might think. It is important for everyone to keep their Will up-to-date, so that their wishes are acted upon.
Please ensure you consult a professional. This will help ensure that your will is legally compliant and accurately reflects your wishes. You can find a local solicitor at www.lawsociety.org.
There are three main types of gift you can leave in a Will:
1. A percentage of your estate. Your estate is made of everything you own. The gift we receive will be calculated from that, after other gifts in your Will have been given out. SATEDA will only receive a gift once your loved ones are taken care of. This is called a residual legacy.
2. A set amount of cash. From £100 to £100,000, each and every gift makes a huge difference to women and children living with domestic abuse. This is called a pecuniary legacy.
3. A specific gift. This can be anything from jewellery to stocks and shares. This is called a specific legacy.
Leaving a gift in your will is special, and we’d love to be able to say thank you. If you let us know about your gift, this will enable us to keep you updated about our vital work that your gift will fund, and the impact you will make. There is no obligation to tell us you’re planning to leave a legacy gift, but if you’d like to, please get in touch using our Contact Form.
Our friendly team will be happy to answer any questions about leaving a gift. Please get in touch or drop and email to comms@sateda.org.
