Our programmes allow children and young people to explore and understand themselves, their experience of domestic abuse and their emotions
Children are domestic abuse victims in their own right
90% of children are in the same or the next room when abuse happens at home. This means they hear, they see, they sense, and they experience the abuse, the fear and the trauma.
The effects of growing up with an abusive parent can be debilitating and long term, which is why we’ve developed our service to deliver affirming, empowering and transformative programmes for under 18s in Swale.
1-1 & group sessions / schools
Suitable for: 7-16 year olds
The Healing Together programme provides support for young people who are impacted by domestic abuse. In the sessions we help them understand how their body and brain work so they can manage their emotions and feel calmer and safer.
The You Matter programme provides support for young people impacted by domestic abuse to build up their self-esteem, find their spark and recognise their strengths. In the sessions we guide them to recognise important areas in their lives, identifying dreams and goals, exploring good mental health, healthy relationships and more.
SwitchUp is our evidence based, creative group programme for young people and their mothers/carers to address adolescent to parent violence. Through 7 weekly sessions, it engages both the mother and young person to overcome their relationship’s challenges and make positive changes by developing skills and tools to rebuild connection, communication and empathy.
