Choose Liberty

The Choose Liberty programme provides support for young people who are in or at risk of being in an abusive relationship, helping them to build up their self-esteem, find their spark and spot the red flags.

About the programme

At SATEDA we’re passionate about supporting our young people to live safe, healthy and happy lives.
Choose Liberty is a project for children aged between 13 and 16 years who have experienced domestic abuse in their family context or in their own intimate relationships. If they’re worried that they may be coerced into an intimate relationship where they will be abused, this programme is for them too.

What happens during the sessions?

Overview of how session unfolds

We will work with the young person for 12 weeks and build a trusting and non-judgemental relationship to empower them to leave an unhealthy relationship or to feel confident to recognise the signs of a relationship that is toxic. We will help them to identify their strengths and interests and encourage them to reach their goals.
We will meet the young person in school or in the community for 1-1 sessions, during which we will identify any ongoing risks to their safety, have regular emotional check ins, explore a range of topics around relationships and listen to what they want to achieve.

Topics covered in the sessions include:

🚩 Exploring red and green flags in relationships
🧠 Understanding how our trauma responses affect our day-to day feelings and interactions
🌻 Supporting you to understand yourself
πŸ—£ Encouraging and amplifying your views and opinions about the world
